People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.

We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.

Title or Location: This is my own watercolor painting, not a photo.
I'm a beginner watercolor artist enjoying learning various techniques as I try to find my own style. I loved the challenge of these bricks, and learned a lot while completing this painting alongside a YouTube tutorial from "Paint with Shiba."

I had been painting for about 3 months, watching tutorials on uou tube, practicing different techniques. I was feeling confident. I had a blank sheet and some inspirational pictures around me and started to build a picture. Once the flow came it was like a wave, not stopping until I wad happy, finishing it off with the bee in the flower. I love bees. Felt overjoyed at my achievement in this piece.

A Duplex owner decided to run a cafe in the CBD. It became very successful with people gathering all hours of the morning. I had an hour to wait for an appointment in town, so I sketched this on location. DS watercolour on 300gsm cotton.

I started painting during Covid, mostly flowers, and YouTube tutorials. Raised in Southern California, I have always loved the ocean and have, From the start tried, to tackle painting water and its reflections. Initially with no success. Persistence is the name of the game. I am quite pleased with this one!

Title or Location: Lunch Counter/ Madrid Spain
Went to Spain for 2 weeks a year ago. While thrilled to see the work of Velasquez, Goya, Microsoft and Picasso, it was a treat to be part of everyday life there. This was a scene I photographed at an enormous Farmers Market. The color of the bread caught my eye. Madrilenos have wine with lunch. So civilized.
